Do I have to be certified to go scuba diving?

No. After our free pool lesson, you will be qualified to dive up to 40' with your instructor to see hundreds of tropical fish, sea turtles and abundant marine life.

How many divers do you take out per trip?

We own our own boats and control how many go on them. One boat takes a maximum of 6 divers and the other 8 divers.

When are your wreck dives?

Typically our wreck dives are scheduled for 8:00 am returning at 12:30 pm. However, since we own and operate our own boats, we can set up any custom trip to fit your needs.

When can I fly after my dive?

PADI recommends you wait 12 hours after one dive and 18 hours after 2 or more dives. To be reasonably assured, wait 24 hours after diving. Do not wait until the end of your vacation to schedule dive trips.

Can I dive after flying?

Yes, you may dive right after the airplane lands. However, you may be tired and of fatigued and should wait until rested.

Can I dive on an airplane?

Yes. We have WWII Corsair Fighter Plane that crashed in 1946 in 107†f of gorgeous crystal clear water.

Where are your dive centers located?

In The Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach Hotel in the middle of Waikiki, next to the Cheesecake Factory and in The Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa, near the Zoo.

Is Aqua Zone the only dive center on Waikiki Beach?

Yes, Aqua Zone Scuba Diving & Water Sports Centers are the only dive shops on Waikiki Beach.

How many boats does Aqua Zone have?

Aqua Zone owns & operates two dive boats and control how many go on them. One boat takes a maximum of 6 divers and the other 8 divers

Does Aqua Zone rent seats out to other companies?

No. Aqua Zone does not mix other companies divers with their own.

How do I get to your dive center?

With two shops in Waikiki, one will be close to you. Call for directions.

What gear should I bring?

We provide top of the line Aqua Lung BCD & Regulators as well as full 3mm wet suits. Is it worth the extra work and or cost? If diving for mare than a couple of day then maybe. We recommend the basics- mask snorkel & fins.

What is the temperature of the water?

The ocean temperature varies from high 80° in summer to low 70° in winter. A full 3 mm is usually adequate but if you are prone to the cold, bring more wet suit with you.

How can you give away FREE scuba lessons?

Aqua Zone wants their guests to feel comfortable about diving, so we offer a free lesson in the pool prior to their ocean dive. This way they can learn the basic skills in a safe & comfortable environment and have the ability to ask questions and practice at their own pace. Many dive shops do not have a pool and allow the first time diver to enter the water without any experience or prior knowledge. At least you will know what to expect and know if you even want to try it in the ocean before you jump in from a boat.

How long does it take to get certified to dive?

Typically takes 4 days, however some do it in 3 days. If you want to get certified while vacationing in Hawaii, pick up a CD Rom or manual at your local dive center and read/watch it before you arrive to save valuable vacation time.

Where are the boats located?

Our boats are located in Koko Marina, 20 minutes from Waikiki.

What are your shop hours?

Both shops are open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

What thickness of wet suit should I bring?

A full 3mm is usually sufficient however, some are happy diving without a suit and others cannot get enough wet suit. We provide a full 3mm wet suit.

How do I get to your dive boats?

We provide transportation to our dive boats from Waikiki. If you want to drive yourself, take H-1 East until it turns into Hwy. 72. Then another 6 miles until you get to a Chevron Mini Mart at Koko Marina. Turn right at the Chevron and go to the back of the shopping center and park in from of Zippy's restaurant. The boats are behind Zippy's.
